Amid uncertain future, Micah Hyde calls signing with Bills ‘best decision’ he made

The Buffalo Bills lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-24, in the NFL divisional round of the postseason.

It could have been the final time Micah Hyde suits up for the Bills.

Hyde is slated to be a free agent this offseason. Between age and a few recent seasons with neck injuries, the 33-year-old isn’t sure what’s ahead of him.

Then again, the NFL is a business too. The team might decide to go in another direction as well.

All things considered, Hyde was in a reflective mood during locker cleanout day in Orchard Park. The defender went down memory lane with media.

“When we first got here I was like, ‘What the hell am I doing?’ Hyde said. “But ended up being one of the best decisions I ever made.”

“I think it’s just, we helped the city of Buffalo and Buffalo helped us.”

Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott felt a similar way.

“Micah and Jordan (Poyer). When you say one, you have to say the other, right? McDermott said via video conference. “Driving to the game the other day, I thought to myself, I knew the defense was going to get announced [before the game] it was their turn. I was thinking to myself, this is another opportunity–knowing that we weren’t going to have another home game because Baltimore had won–One last time for these two to run out of the tunnel and hear their names called.”

In addition to the reflective moods between player and coach, the goodbye message that Hyde’s wife, Amanda, wrote on social media might be the cherry on top. Hyde very well could be gone.
