How Alex Ramos went from professional soccer player to viral TikTok star
Alex Ramos’ life has always revolved around the game of soccer.
Ramos was born in Mexico and grew up with his father playing professional soccer there. After moving to the U.S. and spending years playing in soccer leagues and on school teams, Ramos felt like he needed to play at the professional level.
He left college and signed with a club in Mexico, an experience he marked as one of the most exciting professional moments of his life. He started bringing his camera to practice and recording the trick shots he was learning. Then, he noticed the videos were picking up online.
“I was like, ‘Wow, I really enjoy this, and I also enjoy the training aspect that comes with it. I can still train myself, train other players and I can showcase that on this platform,'” Ramos told In The Know.
That’s where his passion for making videos, playing soccer and training all came together.
After three years of playing professionally, Ramos still felt unfulfilled.
“So I thought, ‘You know what, I’m going to take the leap of faith and I’m going to go back to New Jersey, where I grew up, I’m going to start my own account … I’m going to make this whole thing happen,'” he said.
Ramos’ goal became to teach aspiring players through Instagram and TikTok.
After seeing so much success online, Ramos now runs Alex Ramos Training, a soccer skills academy where he teaches young players techniques, focusing on each person’s abilities.
“Being a soccer trainer, you have a huge role in a kid’s life,” he explained. “I feel so much more fulfilled now.”
