Alabama high school sports: Vote for Gadsden Times boys and girls athlete of the Week of May 10

It's that time of the week, time to vote for the Gadsden area boys and girls athlete of the week.

Westbrook Christian's Dylan Rainey won the boys vote with more than 40% of the vote after his 10 strikeout performance while Southside's Hannah Maddox earned 46% of the vote in a close battle with Sophia Jackson of Hokes Bluff.

Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers the week before. Voting will last until Thursday at noon.

• Southside's Mallory Brooks - one-over-73 in sub state

• Cherokee County's Ellie Cothran - 2-under-70

• Cherokee County Mary Hayes Johnson - two state titles, two runner ups

• Gadsden City Nyla Franklin - state title in high jump

• Plainview's Shianne Parker - 9 K's

• Glencoe Abi Bunt - Three RBIs, four runs scored

• Hokes Bluff's Abby Payne - HR, triple four RBIs, four runs scored
