An Alabama man has died because of the injuries he suffered in a fight after the Tide’s 29-0 win over LSU on Saturday.

Per WBRZ, Robert Bowers, 46, died Tuesday after he was allegedly knocked unconscious by two men in a bar in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. His daughter Alexandria had said earlier Tuesday in a social media post that he was no longer breathing on his own.

Alexandria Bowers told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that she had gone to the bar with her father and boyfriend. She left with her boyfriend early because he had to go to work the next morning.

The Ponchatoula Police Department said Azia Crockett and Ryan Anthony had been arrested in connection with the altercation after turning themselves in to police.

Witnesses told her that while her dad and cousin were at the bar, a man took issue with some of the interactions the cousin was having with one of the women, Bowers said.

“All she wanted to do is be friendly and buy people’s drinks. Somebody’s boyfriend didn’t like that. It escalated from there.”

Bowers said she was told two men approached her father. One tapped him on the shoulder and said, “Your old lady . . .” and then punched him, she said.

Bowers fell out of his chair and hit his head on the floor, she said. “They kept hitting him while he was on the ground.”

The fight, police said, was not over the game.

A fundraising effort for Bowers had raised approximately $1,800 in three days.

Alabama easily beat LSU in the game Saturday night to stay at No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings. LSU fell from No. 3 to No. 7 in the latest edition of the rankings.
