Adrian College men's and women's hockey play at the Huntington Center

TOLEDO — The Adrian College men's and women's hockey teams had a pair of neutral-site NCHA games Saturday as both played at the Huntington Center in Toledo.

The women's team started it strong with a 6-1 win against Trine to move to 12-2 on the season.

Callie Wollschlager, Tia Lascelle, Annika Hanson and Aileena Dopheide all had a goal and assist while Karmen Anderson and Courtney Ben scored goals as well. Kathryn Truban, Olivia Marcinowski, Lindsey Sorrell, Une Bjelland, Jocelin Hudanish and Gia Avalone each had an assist, and Michaela O'Brien made 11 saves.

The men's team picked up a 1-0 win against Aurora with the winning goal coming 7:49 into the game when Bradley Somers scored off assists from Mathew Rehding and Matt Cuoto.

Dershahn Stewart made 31 saves for the shutout for Adrian (10-4-1).

On Friday, the Bulldogs men's team took an NCHA overtime loss at Trine, 5-4.

The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 after the first and tied it up in the second with three goals to make it a 4-4 game. After a scoreless third, the Thunder scored the game-winner 2:59 into the extra frame.

Ryan Pitoscia, Casey Gerstein, Ayodele Adeniye and Mathew Rehding all scored for Adrian while Jaden Shiels had two assists and Julien Jacob, Ben Loreto, Ian Amsbaugh, Theo Thrun and Jacob Suede all had assists as well.

Men's Basketball

The Bulldogs fell in their MIAA opener on the road against Alma, 69-55.

Adrian trailed the Scots at the half, 35-23.

Braylon Dickerson continued his strong freshman season with 20 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Bulldogs had a strong start and finished the job Saturday as they beat Albion at home, 78-70, to improve to 3-10 and 1-1 in the MIAA.

Nick Seifert went for 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal while DJ Morrow had 17 points and two steals, Kendall Chrismon had 11 points, two assists and a block and Reed Schilling had 10 points.

Women's Basketball

The Bulldogs fell into a hole going into the fourth quarter and battled back but couldn't complete the comeback as they fell to Calvin Wednesday in MIAA play, 51-47.

Adrian led 22-20 going into the break, but the Knights took a 42-34 lead into the fourth.

The Bulldogs tied it, 46-46, with 3:27 to go but didn't hit another shot the rest of the game.

Aubrie Ickes led the way with 18 points, five rebounds, a block and a steal.

Adrian lost to Albion at home Saturday as the Brits used a big second half to beat the Bulldogs, 74-55.

Adrian (7-6, 2-3 MIAA) trailed 16-11 after the first but led 34-29 at the half. Albion outscored the Bulldogs 45-21 the rest of the way.

Kylie Skidmore had 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists while Ashlyn Weatherly had 11 points and six rebounds and Bailey Taylor had 10 points.

Wrestling

The Adrian women went 1-4 at the NWCA Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, as the Bulldogs lost to Iowa (49-1), Lindenwood (33-12), Elmira (26-21) and Lock Haven (24-23) while beating New Jersey City (40-9).

Emily Mendez (109/116) went 4-1 with two tech falls and scored the Bulldogs' lone point against the Hawkeyes. Carleigh Czerneski (116/123) went 4-1 as well with a pin and tech fall while Angela LoRusso (130/136) went 4-1 with three pins and a tech fall.

Women's Basketball

The Saints dominated Rochester in WHAC play Wednesday, 73-41.

SHU came out firing with a 25-12 lead after the first and 42-15 at the half.

Kayla Hinton had 12 points, nine assists, four rebounds and two steals while Jakarri Alven had 10 points, four rebounds two steals and an assist while Madison Vice had 12 points, six rebounds, two steals and an assist off the bench.

Hinton and the Saints kept rolling with a 78-58 win at home against Cornerstone to improve to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the WHAC.

Hinton put up 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals while Olivia DeLong had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds while adding three blocks and a steal. Jillian Gelso added 11 points.

Men's Basketball

The Saints had a strong defensive effort in the first half against Rochester Wednesday, holding a 27-18 lead at the half, but SHU fell 66-63 as a last-second 3-point shot missed.

Rochester chipped away at the deficit before going on a 7-0 run to go up 47-46 with 5:55 to go. Delano Williams hit a 3-pointer with seven seconds to go to make it a 64-63 game as part of his 26-point, four-rebound, three-assists, one-steal and one-block night.

Jonas Tester put up 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal while Shawn Brown had 12 points, six rebounds, four blocks and three steals.

SHU dropped to 5-9 and 3-6 in the WHAC with a 73-59 loss to Cornerstone on Saturday.

Brown had 16 points and nine rebounds to go with two blocks while Williams had 15 points, four rebounds, two blocks and a steal and Colin Nutter had 10 points, three rebounds, a steal and block.
