ADM, Williamsburg move up in the Des Moines Register's Iowa high school football rankings

Two weeks of Iowa high school football are complete, and the results from Week 2 led to even more movement in the Des Moines Register's rankings.

The competition from this past weekend led to more questions than answers, as previously unranked teams made their cases to be included in the rankings and some highly-ranked programs dropped from the top 10 altogether.

In Class 5A, Dowling remained in the No. 1 spot, despite Southeast Polk’s thumping of Ankeny. ADM took over the top spot in Class 4A, dethroning the reigning state champions, Xavier. Williamsburg took over No. 1 in Class 3A after downing Xavier by one point.

And there is even more movement throughout all seven classes.

Southeast Polk made a case to be moved up to No. 1 after thumping Ankeny, but Dowling Catholic remains atop Class 5A for now.
