Today we look back at Jack Elder and his key play that helped Notre Dame to the 1929 national championship. In Elder’s final game at Notre Dame, he intercepted an Army pass at the Notre Dame four yard line and returned it 96 yards for the only score of the game.
Notre Dame would win 7-0 and be crowned national champions as a result.
Elder died at 86 years of age back in 1992.
