What Reviewers Say: “I ordered these to wear to a concert this summer, they are nice and light, came as pictured and they are comfortable. Excellent value for the price. I have seen the same boots for 2-3x as much as what I paid for these. Very happy with my purchase!”

Aldo Reflow Combat Boots
Size range: 5-11 US
Colorways: Khaki, bone, and black
Materials: Leather upper, rubber sole
Pros: Classic and comfy
Cons: Not good for those needing ankle support
Lightweight and designed in a variation of the sock boot trend, these Aldo boots are fully slip-on, with decorative laces to add more visual detail. Their color range of neutral, classic colors lend themselves to being year round staples. However, we caution against these for anyone who desires additional ankle support, as a slip-on style lacks advanced structure through the shoe body.
What Reviewers Say: “I don’t have slim feet and these fit so comfy! They’re lightweight and are exactly what they look like online. Best purchase ever.”

Isabel Marant Campa Combat Boots
Size range: 5 -11 US
Colorways: Black
Materials: Leather upper with a rubber sole
Pros: Classic boots with minimal detailing
Cons: Lace-up style, no zippers
Isabel Marant has been beloved by fashion insiders for her bohemian designs and this set of boots is no different. Created without side zippers, you’re able to tighten the long laces based on your needs, especially if you have weaker ankles that need more support. As they lean toward a more simplistic design, they have the ability to stay in your closet longer. They’re an ideal option for more petite frames as well, as they hit at your ankle over the mid-calf style that many designers cut their combat boots in.

Heat sealing, a hallmark of the brand, exists in the Jadon as well. Set on a 2” platform, the Jadon is a subdued take on the platform combat hybrid trend that’s been seen on the runway and on downtown folks alike.
What Reviewers Say: “I’m originally a size 10 and that’s the size I chose. They fit perfectly & you don’t have to break them in either. Personally, I don’t think they are heavy either, I get so many compliments.”

Colorways: Black
Materials: Man-made upper, lining, footbed, and outsole
Pros: Trendy detailing
Cons: Limited sizing options available
If you’re looking for a pair of boots that are daring and slide onto wider calves with ease, we recommend this Janna boot. A side zipper makes putting these on easy, and a large platform adds height. Croc-embossed leather adds a hint of edge and graphic detailing to this pair of boots and a cushioned footbed means additional support and comfort with each wear.
What Reviewers Say: “I’m so glad I bought these! My calves are a little bigger now, and the extra room made these a really comfortable fit. If you have big thighs to match your calves they might not be the best choice, since they fit over the knee. Very stylish and cute without adding too much extra height. (I liked the look of them so much I bought a second pair b/c they’re perfect). Very complimentary on long legs!”

What Reviewers Say: “LOVE THIS SHOE!! It is so lightweight despite the height. When I first tried it on to walk around the house to see if they would work, I literally forgot I had them on! It is a trendy, gorgeous design. The next day I wore them for a full day of mall shopping and they were so comfy and didn’t hurt my bunions! I got the black to go with everything, but I might consider another pair. It would be a splurge though because they are pricey. But, well worth it! a must have! Stylish Combat Boot Trends for 2023
If you take a glance at the fall/winter 2023 collections, it is clear to see that this is going to be the season of the boot. Whether it’s an over the knee, Western style, or combat boot, this style of footwear dominated shows.
Tall, lace-up combat boots for women that evoke Peter Lindbergh’s iconic supermodel biker photoshoot were paired with graphic miniskirts at Monse. At Chloe, simple, understated women’s combat boots were worn with off-the-shoulder midi dresses, channeling Parisian cool, while at the Coach show, baby biker boots stormed the runway — a twist on the classic pair you may find aboard a Harley.
For the more daring fashionistas, take cues from the Junya Watanabe show. The brand’s stylish platform combat boots and leather pants created the illusion of mile-long legs.
At Gabriela Hearst, models wore crocheted dresses with ankle-length Chelsea boots with extreme lug outsoles, offering a sense of drama to a typically understated boot style.
What’s even cooler? The emergence of hybrid styles, with combat boots being the common denominator. You’ll see the best designer boots for 2023 include nods to other popular boot styles, taking details from the upper part of the boot and closures from Chelsea boot, motorcycle boot, or riding boots — it’s all with an emphasis on the tough-girl, thick lug sole. Essentially, newer styles we’ve seen show us combat boots have no limits and can fit into a variety of wardrobes.
We’ve also seen an emergence of elongated Chelsea boots, a newer concept snapped up by models and influencers alike, with longer shafts typically set atop lug outsoles and paired with shorter shorts, coordinated sets, and skirts. These elongated styles visually lengthen your legs, whereas another style, with bulkier toe boxes, adds attitude to your outfits as we transition into fall.
How to Wear Combat Boots for Women
Whether you go full-out ’90s grunge or an all-black Y2K-inspired dystopian futuristic look, mix combat boots into your “weird girl aesthetic” vibe, or when you simply want to add an edge to a feminine look. Whatever your style may be, the combat boot can work seamlessly into your wardrobe.
Simply put, there are no rules, as long as it feels true to your personal style.
For a casual day, Kate Beckinsale’s graphic set hits the mark. Pair a matching outfit with cute platform combat boots and a tube top. Whether you want to channel a Y2K pop star or a K-Pop idol headed to the Seoul airport, this outfit checks both the casual and cozy boxes.
Looking to take things back to the ’90s? Take a page out of Jurnee Smollet’s Versace party look with a choker, a sleek ponytail, and a ruched coordinated set. Instantly, a seemingly sexy look becomes cool and sophisticated.
In a look that would make Lara Croft jealous, Kourtney Kardashian’s spin on the combat outfit is very Y2K-inspired. Wear a pair of baggy pants with a cropped cardigan or sweater or for extra edgy appeal, add layers and layers of chunky jewelry.
Want to keep things cozy with your stylish combat boots for women? Channel influencer Olivia Culpo this fall. Pair an oversized, fuzzy shearling coat with leather leggings. Want to go further? Add a matching shearling bag.
If you’re looking to put a modern spin on the ’90’s combat boots look, borrow inspiration from Paris Jackson. Style a chunky cardigan with a slinky minidress and cute combat boots for a grunge look that will take you from drinks to dancing with casual ease. Add a smokey eye for a true homage to the OG, Courtney Love.
Keep things cool yet sophisticated a la Emma Watson at the Schiaparelli couture show, by mixing a sharp, graphic blazer with ripped straight-leg jeans. Translate this look for the office and swap your jeans out for tailored, wide-leg pants.
What to Look for in the Most Comfortable Combat Boots for Women
In terms of function, women’s combat boots are ideal for cold weather because of their snug, lace-up design and rugged rubber soles — which, when made for walking on slick, icy terrain, make these great winter boots. Adding to their durability, most silhouettes are made with sturdy leather or suede and many include double-stitched details.
Not only that, combat boots are podiatrist-approved. “They’re great for people with chronic lateral ankle instability or for people that hike on uneven terrain,” explains Silicon Valley-based podiatrist Najwa Javed. But not all styles are created equal. According to Dr. Javed, “If the upper material is too stiff, like in an ice skating boot, you fall and it will cause a fracture because there is no give in the material.” On the other hand, “if the material is too soft, there is no support to control ankle motion,” she warns.
And if you have any of the following foot conditions, you should heed Dr. Javed’s advice:
Bunions: “A wide and open toe box is the key,” she says. “Boots can be narrow in the toe box, and that can cause pinching, which can worsen the pain of an existing bunion. Find a pair with a stretchable upper like suede or soft leather.”
Plantar Fasciitis: “Go for a raised heel,” she notes. “Having a heel counter or lift of at least one inch can significantly reduce heel pain. Wedged boots are also a great option.”
Flat Feet: “Boots that are made with anti-pronation technology are the best option, as well as boots that can accept insoles/orthotics,” Dr. Javed explains. “Flat feet are generally a more unstable foot type so opt for a rigid sole, arch support, and ankle length to help reduce the pronation that flat feet are known for.
Wide Feet: “For women with wide feet, using a men’s shoe in their size is the best option, given that most women’s boots are built narrower.”
High Arches: “Boots with lace-up designs can be better than those with a solid upper in accommodating higher arches or feet that swell,” she shares.
