6 potential trade fits for Panthers WR Terrace Marshall Jr.

The sales could soon be firing off for the Carolina Panthers, and they could start with wideout Terrace Marshall Jr.

As first reported by ESPN senior NFL insider Jeremy Fowler on Thursday, Marshall Jr. and his agent have been granted permission by the Panthers to seek a trade. The 23-year-old receiver, who has seemingly been lost in the shuffle in Charlotte, may be looking for a bigger role elsewhere.

So, let’s try to find one for him.

Here are six potential landing spots for the former second-round pick:

Chicago Bears

Let’s start with a familiar business partner, shall we?

Even with former Panthers standout DJ Moore in tow, the Bears aren’t particularly deep with wideouts. Plus, Darnell Mooney—their second-best player at the position—has been a topic of trade rumors as well.

Perhaps Chicago would be interested in reuniting Marshall Jr. with Moore to get quarterback Justin Field some additional help.

Staying in the NFC North, the Vikings could be interested in giving Marshall Jr. a try—especially with Justin Jefferson out.

A playoff berth isn’t completely gone from the radar in Minnesota, as they sit at 2-4. And even if it is, hooking up their quarterback in 2024 (whoever that may be) with the best receiver in the world, first-rounder Jordan Addison and a cheap, but potent option in Marshall Jr. ain’t bad.

New York Giants

Opportunity could knock for Marshall Jr. in New York . . . or at least thereabouts.

The Jersey Giants are struggling to get quarterback Daniel Jones going. Could offensive whiz Brian Daboll tap into the talent of the athletic 6-foot-2, 200-pounder?

Buffalo Bills

Unlike the last team, the Bills actually do play in the state of New York. But they are a bit like the Giants when it comes to having (or not having) a sufficient amount of firepower.

Buffalo could use a boost at the slot, an area Marshall Jr. had experience in during his days at LSU. He also had experience with former Panthers offensive coordinator and current Bills quarterbacks coach Joe Brady, who was calling plays in Baton Rogue for Marshall Jr. in 2019.

New England Patriots

Bill Belichick and the Patriots are no strangers to kicking the tires of potential. Heck, they even tried it earlier this season with former Panthers third-round pick Matt Corral.

At 1-5 and in the cellar of the NFL’s toughest division, New England must be looking beyond the 2023 campaign and into their future. Marshall Jr. could have himself a meaty opportunity to make his case for it.

Denver Broncos

If the Broncos are to ship out at least one of Courtland Sutton or Jerry Jeudy, they may want to replenish at the position. Plus, Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints were reportedly set on drafting Marshall Jr. with the 60th overall pick in 2021 until the Panthers caught wind and traded into the 59th spot to snipe him.

And hey, maybe Sutton or Jeudy ends up in a potential swap between these two sides. Everybody wins!
