The 5 biggest Eagles storylines entering OTAs

The Eagles are entering Phase Three of the offseason program and that means the team is fast approaching training camp, with the group only expected to be together six more times before breaking until late July.

Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program where teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or “OTAs”.

Philadelphia will only conduct six sessions, with no live contact, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and no 11-on-11 drills as well.

With the rest of the offseason schedule now completed, here are the five biggest storylines to watch.

No mandatory minicamp

The Eagles were one of the teams that voted against holding a mandatory minicamp, instead of agreeing to hold some intense sessions before breaking until training camp. Philadelphia again will employ a modified spring with rest being the most urgent need.

Building off of last offseason’s dialed-down offseason program, Philadelphia seems to have gone even lighter, cutting out the mandatory minicamp, and reducing the OTA period to six sessions.

“Everything that we do is going to be thought out with the players’ health and safety in mind first,” Sirianni said.

“That was one thing we felt like we did a good job last year of staying healthy for different reasons and different thoughts and everybody’s voices going into it. I have to make the final decision, but we really felt like we benefited from some of those things that we did last year of the time length, of the things that we did.

New faces

As Philadelphia continues to retool its roster, plenty of new faces will be on the scene at the NovaCare Complex. Haason Reddick, Kyzir White, Zach Pascal, Nakobe Dean, Cam Jurgens, Jordan Davis, and A.J. Brown are the highlights of new Eagles who’ll look to make the culture even stronger.

Depth Chart already set?

With Philadelphia scrapping 11 on 11’s this spring, it appears a good portion of the depth chart is set and the team simply wants to refine and chase perfection in the trenches. Look for more work in the passing game on both sides of the ball.

The Eagles’ defensive coordinator has talked about having smart, versatile, and tough players, which Howie Roseman promptly provided to Jonathan Gannon.
