49ers sign first-round pick Reid

The San Francisco 49ers signed first-round draft pick Eric Reid to a four-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

Reid, a safety who was the 18th overall selection in April, started all 13 games for LSU last season and had 91 tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and seven passes defensed. He was named an All-American after his junior season.

The 22-year-old Reid finished his college career with 199 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, six interrceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The 49ers traded their first- and third-round picks (No. 31 and 74 overall) to the Dallas Cowboys to move up to the 18th spot to draft Reid. He is expected to contend for a starting job this year after free safety Dashon Goldson departed for Tampa Bay in free agency.

Reid was the last of the 49ers' 12 picks from this year's draft to sign. San Francisco is the 14th team to sign all of its 2013 draft choices.
