Player of the Year

The Ohio Division IV Player of the Year and Ohio Miss Basketball runner-up, Vermilya led Loudonville to its second Final Four appearance in the state tournament. She is a four-time All-Ohio and two-time Ohio Player of the Year. The 5-foot-9 senior scored 736 points for a 26.3 per game average, with 345 rebounds (12.3), 178 steals (6.4), 108 assists (3.9) and 35 blocks (1.3). She played in the Ohio North-South All-Star Game and the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game, was named the Player of the Year by District 4 Coaches, Mid-Buckeye Conference and the Northwest Inland District. She ranks 10th in state history with 2,407 career points and 13th with 1,255 rebounds and seventh with 553 steals.

Loudonville girls basketball coach Tyler Bates said of Vermilya, "Corri leaves Loudonville as the most decorated high school girls basketball player in the history of north central Ohio. She is well-deserving of all of the recognition she has received."

In his ninth season at Loudonville, Bates led the Lady Redbirds to the state semifinals where they lost 42-31 loss against Waterford. Loudonville finished the season at 26-3 overall, with the 26 wins being a school and Ashland County record. The 'Birds won their third district title (1992, 2021) and made their second trip to the Final Four (1992). Loudonville also won its eighth consecutive Mid-Buckeye Conference championship, with its seniors never losing an MBC game in their careers.

First Team

Kennedy Lacey, Ashland — The Lady Arrows freshman averaged 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.5 assists per game. Ashland coach Renee Holt said of Lacey, "Her ability to get to the rim anytime she wants, finish through contact, but also be lethal from mid-range makes her almost impossible to stop or slow down. Kennedy has worked her butt off to put herself in position to be the all-time scorer at Ashland High School, and cement her name as one of the greats in this area."

Riley Kubitz, Black River — The senior averaged 21.1 points with 295 points scored this season, also averaging 6.4 rebounds, with 53 steals and 35 assists. BR coach Greg Vogelsong said Kubitz is a four-year letter winner, the varsity team captain, was the individual high scorer in a game in Medina County with 45 points and her four-year point total was 1,397. She was a Division III All-Ohio Honorable Mention selection.

Sophia Spangler, Loudonville — The versatile 5-8 senior averaged 10.26 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.4 assists and was a top defender for the Lady Redbirds. She was an All-Ohio Honorable Mention pick and was selected on the first team by the District 4 Coaches and Mid-Buckeye Conference, and second team on the Northeast Inland District. "Sophia had an outstanding year as our primary ballhandler and playmaker," Bates said. "Her assist to turnover ratio was well in the positive and she ended up being one of our top on-ball defenders."

Mya Vermilya, Loudonville — The 5-8 freshman averaged 14.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.2 assists. An All-Ohio special mention selection, she was also a first team pick for the District 4 Coaches, Mid-Buckeye Conference and Northeast Inland District. Bates said, "Mya immediately made an impact as one of the top players in the area. She has a bright future ahead of her."

Heidi Earl, Mapleton — The versatile senior averaged 11 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.7 assists. A strong defender for the Lady Mounties, Mapleton coach Daryl Young said Earl recorded 63 blocks this season, which is a school record. She was a first team Firelands Conference selection.

Emilee Rowland, New London — Also a special mention All-Ohio Division IV selection, the 5-11 Rowland was a Firelands Conference first team selection, averaging 10.9 points and 5.5 rebounds. She helped the Lady Wildcats to a 20-5 overall season and 14-0 FC mark. NL coach Eric Mitchell says Rowland led the team in points, rebounds and averaged 2.2 steals a game.

Caydence Scale, Northwestern — The senior finished her career with 1,201 points and coach Andrew Nicholson said she became Northwestern's second all-time career scorer. She led the Lady Huskies in scoring with an 18.8 average, adding 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 steals.

Grace Lamoreaux, South Central — The senior was named the Firelands Conference player of the year, and a Division IV All-Ohio third team selection, averaging 11.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 4.3 steals for the Lady Trojans. SC coach John Vogel said Lamoreaux was a two-time first team District 6 pick and a first team Northwest District selection.

Kendyl Beverly, South Central — The Lady Trojans senior was a Firelands Conference first team selection, and a two-time FC scoring leader, leading the loop with 21.5 points per game. She also averaged two rebounds, 2.41 steals and 2.2 assists. Vogel credited Beverly for her tenacious play, saying she was also a two-time first team All-District pick and third team Northwest District section.
