This 2023 in-state 4-star DE has Florida in his top three

Four-star weakside defensive end Daniel Harris is seriously considering Florida as he narrows down his options, according to Rivals. Harris told Gators Territory that Florida was in his current top three along with Notre Dame and Auburn.

Only a junior, Harris’ list could change at any time, and he says that Tennessee is recruiting him the hardest. Florida has the home-field advantage with Harris at Palm Bay High in Melbourne.

Running backs coach and special teams coordinator Greg Knox has developed a relationship with Harris and thinks he could play some outside linebacker for Florida in the future. Harris is the seventh-best WDE in the country, according to Rivals, and he sits at No. 155 overall. 247Sports is a little less high on Harris rating him a three-star prospect, but his composite rating has him at No. 14 for edge rushers in the nation.

Harris visited recently for the Vanderbilt game and said he’ll likely return to Gainesville on an unofficial visit later this year. He’s deciding between the Samford and Florida State game right now.

Florida has four commits so far in its recruiting class of 2023, and most of them are on the other side of the ball. At 6-feet-5-inches and 180 pounds, Harris would be a fine addition to the Florida defense. A decision is still far away, but Florida is making its mark on a solid player close to home.
