2023 NFL draft: Giants currently slated to select 24th overall

The New York Giants had a pivotal win on Sunday Night Football against the Washington Commanders, significantly increasing their chances of making the playoffs. Big Blue moved into the NFC’s sixth seed with three weeks remaining in the season.

With the win, the Giants are now currently slated to select 24th overall in the 2023 NFL draft if the season were to end today, according to Tankathon.

Since the Miami Dolphins have forfeited their 2023 first-round pick (23rd overall), there would just be 22 teams picking ahead of the Giants as it currently stands today.

The biggest debate among Giants fans right now is over the future of Daniel Jones, despite a couple of Giants legends endorsing DJ. The uncertain status of Jones will likely continue as long as he is a part of the Giants organization.

The 2023 draft may not be the place to draft a quarterback if that is the direction the Giants choose to go as most of the talent at the position will likely be off the board when New York is on the clock.

Tankathon’s mock draft has the Giants taking Utah cornerback Clark Phillips III with their pick. Cornerback, offensive line, and wide receiver are likely as they are the biggest areas of need for New York currently. You can throw in inside linebacker, too.

Most of the talent on the Giants roster has been homegrown and that talent is flourishing for the team this year, earning Pro Bowl consideration. The Giants will hope to continue to build through the draft and add to the young talent on the roster.
