Manchester City win Club World Cup as Pep Guardiola captures 4th global title
Pep Guardiola has made history of the both club and personal variety after leading Manchester City into, and winning, its first FIFA Club World Cup.
City became the fourth Premier League team to win the tournament by beating Brazilian side Fluminense 4-0 in the 2023 final on Friday. Guardiola, for his part, captured his fourth crown (with a third different club) after winning twice with Barcelona and once with Bayern Munich.

Previously, a Premier League club last won the Club World Cup when Chelsea topped Palmeiras in 2022, three yearsd after Liverpool outlasted Flamengo, triumphing by virtue of a Roberto Firmino goal.
The tournament will expand to 32 teams when it comes to the United States in 2025.

The FIFA Club World Cup is annual competitions pitting the winners of the AFC Champions League, the CAF Champions League, OFC Champions League, UEFA Champions League, Copa Libertadores, and CONCACAF Champions League Cup along with a host nation's national champion.

The Club World Cup was first held in 2000, then took four years off before becoming an annual tradition for the victors of each confederation's main club competitions.
It was held in Brazil but soon moved to Asia and has been held in the Middle East or North Africa more often than not... at least until 2025's tournament set for the United States.
