2021 Week 9 NFL pick ’em: So many losses

Last week was so bad in every facet of this picks ‘column’ that I almost skipped Week 9 entirely. If there’s no bounce back this week, next week might just be a list of songs I’m really into right now or something. Yeesh.

Picks against the spread

Matt Blewett-USA TODAY Sports

Cowboys (-9.5) vs. Broncos

Dak Prescott’s return should help Dallas, and the Broncos aren’t very good.

Texans (+5.5) at Dolphins

Tyrod Taylor returning for Houston should remove them from the realm of teams that would get pummeled by a not-so-good Dolphins club.

49ers (-2.5) vs. Cardinals

If Kyler Murray doesn’t play for Arizona, the 49ers could find themselves on the right side of this one. A win by a field goal seems doable.

Rams (-7.5) vs. Titans

Maybe Tennessee is still awesome without Derrick Henry, but that’s something I’ve got to see before I believe it.

Last week: 1-3

Season: 12-17

Over/Unders

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Bills at Jaguars, under 48.5

This wreaks of one of those games Buffalo dominates on both sides.

Falcons at Saints, over 41.5

Division games are always a little weird, but the Falcons defense just isn’t very good.

Bears at Steelers, under 38.5

That’s a super small number, but neither of these teams are really good at scoring.

Last week: 0-3

Season: 9-20

Lock of the week

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Ravens (-270) vs. Vikings

Baltimore coming off a bye at home should beat a middling Minnesota team with relative ease.

Last week: 0-1

Season: 3-5

Upset of the week

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Giants (+145) vs. Raiders

A cross-country trip after a tumultuous week may set the Raiders back against a Giants team that hung with the Chiefs in Kansas City a week ago.
