15 Standout boys lacrosse players from Week No. 2 of spring season

It's officially lax season for all boys lacrosse teams in the Shore Conference.

Some underclassmen have stepped up and made a name for themselves while household names continue to put up numbers. These standouts are from Jan. 8 to 14.

Luke Lydon, Rumson-Fair Haven, So.

Last week Lyndon has stepped up his scoring output with 11 points in three games. He finished with five goals against Glen Ridge, four goals against Holmdel, and two goals against CBA, all for wins.

Brandon Kunz, Manasquan, Jr.

Kunz had 15 points in the past three games last week. His most complete game being in a win over Southern where he finished with four goals and two assists for the Warriors.

Reid Spallone, Shore, So.

The sophomore has been stuffing the stat sheet for the Blue Devils this season. Last week he had 10 points in two games with a three goal and assist performance over Red Bank Regional.

Jack Cannon, Holmdel, So.

The midfielder came up big for the Hornets in their win over Red Bank Regional last week with three goals and four assists.

The Stockton University commit only gave up three goals in a win over Wall on Wednesday. As of now, he's made 35 saves on the season.

Nate Cummings, Toms River East, Jr.

The six-foot-three midfielder has been the offensive overload last week and a big reason for TRE staying undefeated at 4-0. Last week he had 17 points total, and finished with five goals and one assist in a win over Red Bank Catholic.

Russell Cender, Jackson Memorial, Sr.

Last week Cender did an exceptional job defending the net when he held the last three teams to single digits. He also made 38 saves and let up 16 goals in the past three games.

Peter Villare, Red Bank Catholic, Sr.

The attackman scored seven goals for the Caseys in a win over Ocean Township.

Hayden Mattos, Middletown North, Sr.

The midfielder has been the leading scorer for the Lions last week in helping them go 3-0. He scored 12 goals and three assists in the three games they've played this past week.

Willie Canavan, Ocean Township, Sr.

The longstick midfielder leads the Spartans in ground balls and also had three assists last week in the past two games.

Paul Capozzi, Jackson Liberty, Sr.

Capozzi was a big reason for his team winning three straight games last week with a season-high seven goals against Colts Neck. Last week he had 19 goals and eight assists in three games.

Gavin Nascimento, Donovan Catholic, Fr.

The freshman has caught the Shore by surprise with his last two games that were for wins. He went off for seven goals against Lacey, plus five goals and assists against Toms River South.

Matt Avivi, Manalapan, Jr.

The junior had four goals and five ground balls in a win over Point Pleasant Boro.

Nick Correia, Brick Memorial, So.

The midfielder finished with five goals, two assists, and six ground balls in a win over Toms River North.

Ethan Galvin, Brick Township, Jr.

The midfielder had two goals, one assist, and two ground balls in a win over Central Regional
