11 Mid-Valley tennis players to watch at OSAA state championships

The OSAA tennis state championships begin Thursday and going through Saturday.

The Class 6A tournaments will be Thursday through Saturday at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton.

The 5A tournaments are Friday at West Hills Racquet and Fitness Club in Portland, and Saturday at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.

The 4A/3A/2A/1A tournaments are at Oregon State.

Here are 11 Mid-Valley tennis players to keep an eye on at the state tournaments.

Top Mid-Valley tennis player to watch 

ZACH MOORE (CASCADE), CLASS 4A/3A/2A/1A

Cascade’s Zach Moore is the defending OSAA Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state champion and the No. 1 seed in this year’s tournaments.

He faces Baker’s Daniel Cunningham in the first round of the tournament.

If he wins, Moore will face the winner of Catlin Gabel’s Aston Selly and Tymofii Sybirtsev of St. Mary’s.

ADAM SON (SOUTH SALEM), CLASS 6A

South Salem’s Adam Son is the No. 8 seed in the 6A state tournament.

He faces unseeded Finn Johnson from Central Catholic in the first round.

If Son wins, he will next face the winner of Grant’s Josiah Mones and Newberg’s Ty Delay, both unseeded.

TIRZAH TARBOX (SPRAGUE), CLASS 6A

Sprague’s Tirzah Tarbox is unseeded in the 6A tournament.

She will open against South Eugene’s Rosalyn Cho, who also is unseeded.

If Tarbox wins, she will next face No. 2 Neena Feldman from Westview, who has a first-round bye.

ANDRIA YAO/NIDHI NAGARAJ (SOUTH SALEM), CLASS 6A

South Salem’s doubles team Andria Yao and Nidhi Nagaraj is seeded eighth in the 6A tournament.

They open against David Douglas’s Katelyn Vo and Charlotte West, who are unseeded.

If Yao and Nagaraj win, they will next face the winner of West Salem’s Charlotte Haworth/Sydney Moneke and Glencoe’s Kelly Miller/April Jones.

JACOB HODA/JACOB HORN (SPRAGUE), CLASS 6A

Sprague’s doubles team Jacob Hoda and Jacob Horn are unseeded in the 6A tournament.

They open against Sheldon’s Andy Brown and Cash Daughters, also unseeded.

If Hoda and Horn win, they next will face No. 1 Cameron Paulsen/Rhyson Chang from West Linn, who have a first-round bye.

NOAH LEICHTY (SOUTH SALEM), CLASS 6A

South Salem’s Noah Leichty is unseeded in the 6A state tournament.

He will face Glencoe’s Adam Ewert, also unseeded, in the first round.

If Leichty wins, he next will face the winner of No. 6 Rief Larson of Jesuit and South Eugene’s Jeremy Wang.

LINCOLN BASL (SPRAGUE), CLASS 6A

Sprague’s Lincoln Basl is unseeded in the 6A state tournament.

In the first round, he faces West Linn’s Youssef Abdelsamad, who also is unseeded.

If Basl wins, he next will face No. 1 seed Will Semler from Lincoln, who has a first-round bye.

CALEB SKIPPER (MCNARY), CLASS 6A

McNary’s Caleb Skipper is unseeded in the 6A tournament.

He opens against No. 7 Jonathon Nguyen of David Douglas.

If Skipper wins, he next will face the winner of Century’s Dan Tran and South Eugene’s Blake Chandler, both unseeded.

REESE BEYROUTY (SPRAGUE), CLASS 6A

Sprague’s Reese Beyrouty is unseeded in the 6A tournament.

She opens against Grant’s Marina Seidl, who also is unseeded.

If Beyrouty wins, she will next face the winner of No. 6 Arushi Arora from Mountainside and unseeded Sonya Drayton from West Linn.

SADIE PATERSON (SOUTH SALEM), CLASS 6A

South Salem’s Sadie Paterson is unseeded in the 6A tournament.

She opens against Lake Oswego’s Ava Kitchin, also unseeded.

If Paterson wins, she will next face No. 4 Sydney Board of Tigard.

HANNAH BRADSHAW (SPRAGUE), CLASS 6A

Sprague’s Hannah Bradshaw is unseeded in the 6A tournament.

She opens against No. 8 Malina Johnson from Lake Oswego.

If Bradshaw wins, she next will face the winner of Century’s Sariah Plaidted and David Douglas’s Valerie Nicado, both unseeded.
