1 pending free agent Chargers should target from each AFC South team

The Los Angeles Chargers are set to enter free agency with a healthy amount of salary cap space available

Even though the franchise has some in-house players that will need to get paid, there’s a great chance that general manager Tom Telesco and company will be aggressive in signing other pending free agents to bolster an already talented roster.

With that being said, we are going to list one pending free agent from each team in the NFL that could be a realistic target for L.A. Next up is the AFC South.

CB Xavier Rhodes, Colts

Whether it was injury or scheme related, Casey Hayward did not play well this past season. An option is releasing Hayward and saving $9.75 in cap space. If so, the Chargers will be in need of finding an instant starter and they could afford to do so with a veteran. Playing at a Pro Bowl level after experiencing a rough year in 2019, Rhodes posted a 52.4 completion percentage allowed, 84.6 quarterback rating allowed, deflected 16 passes, posted two interceptions, 42 tackles and was one of the most impactful pieces in the Colts’ secondary. Rhodes played on a one-year deal, $1.5 million deal but his play from 2020 proved that he’s worth much more.

OT Ty Sambrailo, Titans

The Chargers need to do whatever it takes to remodel the offensive line and that includes bringing in reliable depth pieces. The former second-round pick has the ability to play both tackle spots, but has also played at guard during his career. Sambrailo, the 6-foot-5 and 315 pounder has the athleticism needed at the position, as seen from this 35-yard touchdown during his playing days with the Falcons. https://twitter.com/AtlantaFalcons/status/1211348944049061890?s=20 In 415 snaps, Sambrailo only allowed 14 pressures. He posted a 65.9 overall grade, per Pro Football Focus, which is considered above average.

OT Roderick Johnson, Texans

Like Sambrailo, Johnson would be a reliable depth piece with the ability to get the job done if needed as a starter. The 6-foot-6 and 306 pounder is a great athlete and physical run-blocker. While his pass protection is a work-in-progress, he has the length (36-inch arms) to hold his own in that department. https://twitter.com/PatDStat/status/1176611031566749696?s=20

OT Cam Robinson, Jaguars

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Robinson, who was selected by Jacksonville in the second-round of the 2017 NFL draft, has started in 47 of their 64 regular season games since he was taken. According to Sports Info Solutions, Robinson's overall blown block % and blown pass block % in 2020 was the lowest of his career. He has dealt with some woes throughout his career which could be injury-related, but he is still young and has proven himself as a reliable blindside blocker. https://twitter.com/BrandonThornNFL/status/1308888765977563137?s=20
