The Rush: NFL shockers, a potential “so long” to Sue Bird and surprising surfers

The NFL’s week 3 Sunday action included history happening on both made and missed field goals, surprising upsets and Tom Brady’s first-ever game in Los Angeles. Plus, is this the last we’ve seen of Sue Bird in the WNBA and if you’ve never seen surfing dogs before, now’s the time.

AL MICHAELS: Crosby to try to win it, and the kick is good to win the game.

CRIS COLLINSWORTH: Oh wow.

LIZ LOZA: Sunday's NFL action was intense. Jalen Ramsey showed up to SoFi Stadium in this whip as the Rams welcomed Tom Brady to his first ever NFL game played in the City of Angels by handily beating the Bucs.

- Touchdown!

LIZ LOZA: And the Chargers stunned the Chiefs in Kansas City.

JIM NANTZ: To the end zone, and it's a touchdown. For the third straight week, Mike Williams.

LIZ LOZA: But week three of this NFL season belonged to special teams.

- Say what now?

LIZ LOZA: Specifically, the kicking game.

- Get out of here, man.

LIZ LOZA: Cardinals kicker Matt Prater was hoping to make history with a 68-yard field goal attempt. Let's see how that turned out.

- Got it up. That's short. Agnew brings it out of the end zone. Agnew still running. Agnew [INAUDIBLE] Agnew! Touchdown, Jacksonville! 109 yards! Incredible!

LIZ LOZA: Oh. Here's another look at Jaguars return man Jamal Agnew carrying the missed kick into the history books, tying the NFL record with a 109-yard touchdown. Not to worry, though, field goal history got a second chance in Detroit. Enter Justin Tucker, 66 yards out, for the Ravens win.

- And it's good!

- Oh my--

LIZ LOZA: Got to love a lucky bounce off the crossbar. The WNBA may have closed a historic chapter on Sunday too.

- Bird, a 3 to tie. You bet!

LIZ LOZA: That was Sue Bird and the defending champion Seattle Storm, who were knocked out of the playoffs in an overtime thriller.

- Taurasi, on the other end, cans the 3!

LIZ LOZA: There's plenty of speculation that Bird, who turns 41 in October, will retire.

SUE BIRD: These fans are gonna make me cry in about two seconds.

- One more year! One more year!

LIZ LOZA: And if this is the end of her career, boasting four WNBA titles and five Olympic gold medals, it's fitting that her last game came against her bestie of over 20 years, Diana Taurasi. Salute to the legends.

I want to start your week off right with one of the coolest sports on the planet being done by dogs. Over the weekend, pooches popped onto their little surfboards for the Surf City Surf Dog competition in Huntington Beach with the proceeds going to various dog-related charities. Surfs up, dogs.
