Col. G.S. van Rensburg, former police official who was at the scene of the crime, went on the stand to testify. His testimony gives the defense an advantage since Van Rensburg has been accused of mishandling evidence by taking the pieces of the broken door back to his office.
Van Rensburg resigned after accusations about mishandling evidence were made.
