A look at the Toronto Blue Jays as they prepare for the 2013 baseball season.
What are friends for? The Giants and the Cowboys are storied rivals, but the division foe is about to put one Dallas player in an awesome position. Thanks to a clause written into his contract extension several years ago, Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee stands to earn a huge bonus as early as this week if trends continue. Playing his normal allotment of snaps against the New York Giants in Week 14 will likely earn Lee a $2 million escalator in his 2017 salary, pushing his base up to $9 million. Lee is currently set to be both the highest compensated 4-3 OLB in 2017 in both cash value ($7 million) and salary cap space ($10.45 million). This would expand the gulf even wider, pending 2017 free agency.

The caddie’s name was not released, but Dubai media reported the caddie was carrying for Anne-Lise Caudal. The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters began on Wednesday.
Anthony Pettis doesn’t seem like the sort of guy you’d want to mess with. Pettis, 29, is a professional mixed martial arts fighter, meaning his chosen occupation is ceremoniously beating other men to a bloody pulp. Between August 2013 and March 2015, Pettis was the UFC Lightweight Champion.
New York Yankees free-agent signee Matt Holliday has, and though his chosen profession essentially guarantees he’ll return to the city of his apparent disdain temporarily, the negotiating power of his agent has reportedly guaranteed he won’t return there permanently or work for his former employer again. As we learned on Wednesday, Holliday’s one-year, $13M contract with the Yankees reportedly includes one very interesting and unique provision. It’s essentially a one-team no-trade clause that prevents the Yankees from trading Holliday to the Oakland A’s, where he played during the 2009 season.
A week after his departure from Notre Dame was revealed Malik Zaire has gotten down to saying goodbye. In a letter to The Observer, the university’s student newspaper, Zaire thanked “the amazing students and staff that I’ve met through the years for helping me grow into the person I’ve always wanted to be.” The notes comes a week after the quarterback was given an unconditional release from his Irish scholarship. My life changed for the better the moment I stepped onto the University of Notre Dame’s beautiful campus.
Last week’s Ferrari Finali Mondiali in Daytona, Florida was notable for quite a few reasons. An uprated version of the LaFerrari’s 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V-12 and electric motor cranks out a total of 1,036 horsepower, yet the car weighs in several hundred pounds lighter than its 949-hp street-legal cousin.
Yahoo Sports' Andy Behrens answers a social media question regarding the short turnaround for players before Thursday Night Football in Week 14.
Mets GM Sandy Alderson should have at least one or two reasonable trades on the table for OF Jay Bruce, according to teams that have talked with the Mets. However, because he's comfortable with slow-playing the free-agent market for relief pitchers, Alderson appears totally fine holding off on dealing Bruce for an arm, while letting the outfield market play out and revisiting his options during December. "Things are generally slow," Alderson explained Tuesday, talking to reporters. "Hopefully things start to loosen up a little bit. ...Clubs are still trying to figure out exactly what they think is exactly the best way to go. The contours of the market are still a little bit vague, so you don't
The Banana Boat Crew could be an NBA team in the future. “Anything’s possible,” Chris Paul said on the Open Run podcast this week. “Definitely, anything’s possible.” In case you need a reminder, the Banana Boat Crew involves Paul, LeBron James, Carmelo
The Dallas Cowboys, even at 11-1, don’t seem that unlikable. The Cowboys are always unlikable to some fans no matter their record, but this particular bunch doesn’t seem too bad. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott is a great story (he even picks up his own trash!), the Cowboys are a true underdog tale since they weren’t expected to do much this season, unassuming Jason Garrett doesn’t grate on anyone’s nerves like Jimmy Johnson did, and it has been a really long time since the Cowboys were good enough to bother anyone.
From what I've heard, Houston is flying out to Alabama today to meet with Kiffin. If the president signs off on him after the meeting, Houston will...
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman encourages people to boo him as majority owner Bill Foley looks on before the Vegas Golden Knights was announced as the name for Foley’s Las Vegas NHL franchise at T-Mobile Arena on November 22, 2016, in Las Vegas. There was one big thing the new Las Vegas franchise didn’t do before having their unveiling gala – make sure their trademark was approved. Mary Clarke of SBNation was the first to report Black Knight Sports & Entertainment (the holding company for the Vegas Golden Knights) had their application for a trademark denied.
Eventual winner Dustin Johnson had his final round and championship put into limbo when his ball moved on the fifth green at Oakmont Country Club. After the walking rules official declared Johnson didn’t cause the ball to move, USGA officials kept looking at the footage. As Johnson was making his back-nine run toward his first major, the USGA informed Johnson that he might — might — be penalized for the ball moving.
The Mets are not trading both Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce so they can sign free-agent OF Dexter Fowler, a high-ranking team official told SNY's Steve Gelbs. This is disappointing, if true. I'm sure it is, but I also know Mets GM Sandy Alderson and his front office tend to make statements based on what's happening at that specific moment, and it does not necessarily recognize where things are headed. Remember, Alderson and his staff repeatedly told reporters that the Mets wouldn't release Jason Bay, Luis Castillo and Oliver Perez, nor would they be trading Carlos Beltran and RA Dickey, and they eventually did all of the above. I'm not saying the Mets will sign Fowler, or trade both Bruce or
It was immediately alluded to by Mauro Ranallo, JBL & David Otunga when they won the belts last Sunday (Dec. 4) at TLC, and now WWE.com has confirmed that new SmackDown tag team champions the Wyatts will defend their titles under the Freebird Rule. The trio of Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton & Luke Harper will follow New Day’s lead, where Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have rotated which two members actually compete in their title defenses over the course of their near-historic reign with what are now Raw’s tag belts. Unlike thay group, however, in the case of the new Wyatt Family, the ruling is almost a necessity seeing how Randy Orton is not working house shows in the near future following the
The Orioles were brutally honest with Jose Bautista. Well, we found out Tuesday that the Baltimore Orioles are the spiteful ex of baseball. After meeting with Jose Bautisa’s camp Tuesday, the Orioles offered up a cold-blooded reason for passing on the outfielder.
Lexi Thompson is the only woman in the Franklin Templeton Shootout field this week, and she'll play the same tees as the men. Touting this event as some kind of tricked-up Battle of the Sexes would be insulting not only to Thompson's ability but also to the caliber of elite female golfers in general. Thompson finished the 2016 LPGA season second in driving distance at 277.40 yards, which was longer than 26 players' driving distance on the PGA Tour in the 2015-16 season.

Will Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino’s next fight in the UFC be at featherweight? The ongoing saga of what weight Cris “Cyborg” Justino’s next fight would be at has been a complicated one. Although Justino had fought twice in the UFC at a catchweight of 140 pounds, the Brazilian struggled mightily to make weight on both occasions and stated that she wouldn’t be able to cut below that without having severe medical issues.
Arsenal, the kings of the impressive wins in the European games that don’t matter as much, with resounding victories in the hopeless second legs and such, smashed FC Basel 4-1 on Tuesday to clinch Group A in the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League. Going into the sixth and final round of group play, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain both sat on 11 points. PSG, however, controlled the tiebreaker on head-to-head away goals, since the teams were tied on head-to-head points after two draws, as well as goal difference and goals scored.
It wasn’t karma that got Cam Newton last week, it was the dress code. And Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman obviously couldn’t resist getting in one last dig at the Panthers quarterback, saying he thought coach Ron Rivera did the right thing benching him for the first series (which lasted one play) for not wearing a tie on the team flight to Seattle. “You’ve got accountability,” Sherman said, via Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “You’ve got to hold everybody accountable the same. When you start treating guys different it’s a slippery slope.” That’s effectively the message Rivera was sending, trying to bury it yesterday by saying he didn’t want to create “chaos” by not applying the rules equitably.
In a letter on the NWHL website, league commissioner Dani Rylan hinted at a huge announcement regarding the location of the All-Star Game. The weekend of Feb. 11 and 12 the best of the best in the NWHL will showcase their talents in Pittsburgh (more or less). All 2017 NWHL All-Star events will be held at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, the state-of-the-art practice facility of the Pittsburgh Penguins in Cranberry Township, PA – 20 miles outside of Pittsburgh.

Phil Jackson and Steve Kerr have more in common than the 1990s Chicago Bulls. The legal use of marijuana, whether it be medicinally or recreationally, is gaining steam in the NBA. First, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr admitted last week to using legally prescribed marijuana during his recovery from a 2015 back surgery, questioning how a league could encourage prescription painkiller use for players healing from injury while listing marijuana among its banned substances.
