Yankees activate Teixeira, Youkilis

The New York Yankees activated Mark Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis, and both were listed in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox.

The Yankees also demoted pitcher Ivan Nova, who has not been the same since his outstanding 2011 season. He was sent to Triple-A.

Teixeira has been out since early in spring training with a wrist injury he sustained while taking batting practice for the World Baseball Classic.

Youkilis has been on the 15-day disabled list since April 28 with a lumbar spine strain. He's batting .266 with two homers in 17 games this year.

Nova was just 24 when he went 16-4 with a 3.70 ERA for the Yankees in 2011. He went 12-8 with a 5.02 ERA last year, and he is 2-1 with a 5.16 ERA this season in four starts and two relief appearances.
