Watch: Sebastian Giovinco delivers incredible strike, destroys sideline

Toronto FC star Sebastian Giovinco dug into his bag of tricks again on Friday to help the home side to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Chicago Fire.

In the 82nd minute, with TFC two goals to the good, the Italian pocket rocket went bar down from a free kick just outside the box, finding the top corner postage stamp beyond the reach of Chicago keeper Jorge Bava.

Back to his best

The stunning strike was Giovinco’s second of the night after he opened the scoring in the first half with a low effort that deceived Bava low to his right. His second and third goals of the season were the highlights of a dominant performance, firing 11 shots at the goal — with six on target. Chicago, in comparison, only had one shot on goal all night.

Toronto’s second victory of the season moves the club to 10 points through seven games, three points behind Eastern Conference leaders Columbus Crew.

However, the 2015 MLS MVP ended his night in controversial fashion, when he was subbed off with six minutes remaining in regulation. Seemingly frustrated at being denied the opportunity to secure his hat-trick, Giovinco shared his emotions with a sideline barrier before marching straight down the tunnel.
