UFC Fight Night Abu Dhabi Loses Bout; Fight Card Currently at Nine Bouts

The UFC Fight Night Abu Dhabi card just got one bout lighter.

Alptekin Ozkilic has been forced out of his preliminary bout with Dustin Ortiz due to an injury, according to an announcement by UFC officials on Thursday.

Details of Ozkilic’s injury were not revealed.

Due to the late injury and the event happening in Abu Dhabi, matchmakers will search for a new opponent for Ortiz, but his bout will be moved to a future fight card.

UFC Fight Night 39 now stands at nine bouts. It will take place on April 11 at the du Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Former Pride heavyweight champion and UFC interim heavyweight champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira headlines the card in a five-round non-title bout against The Ultimate Fighter season 10 winner Roy Nelson.

UFC Fight Night 39 marks the promotion’s second trip to Abu Dhabi. The last time the UFC held an event there was UFC 112, where Anderson Silva defended his middleweight belt against Demian Maia.
