UFC Fight Night 36 Weigh-in Results: Fighters On-Point to Shape Middleweight Title Picture

UFC Fight Night 36: Machida vs. Mousasi marks the Ultimate Fighting Championship's second stint in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil. The card is topped by two fights that are likely to define the next title contender in the 185-pound ranks.

Former light heavyweight champions Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi are both trying to make waves at middleweight now, and the winner of their headlining bout, should he perform well, is UFC president Dana White's “no brainer” choice for a title shot.

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, like Mousasi, is a former Strikeforce champion, and he squares off with rising talent Francis Carmont in the UFC Fight Night 36 co-main event. A victory could put Jacare at the forefront of a title shot, especially should the winner of Machida vs. Mousasi fail to impress. But Carmont is facing the biggest test of his career, so a victory for him would catapult him into contention as well.

But first, the fighters had to step on the scale on Friday to weigh in and make their bouts official.

Most of the fighters had no issues making weight, but Maximo Blanco, making his fourth start in the Octagon, weighed in at 147.9 pounds for his 145-pound fight with Felipe Arantes. Blanco was given one hour to get down to the 146-pound limit for a non-title fight in the featherweight division.
