UFC 178 Results: Demetrious Johnson Dominates Chris Cariaso En Route to Submission Win

Demetrious Johnson proved once again that he's the best flyweight in the world with his defeat of Chris Cariaso at UFC 178 in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Johnson dominated Cariaso in the main event, but admitted he was too patient in working his way to a kimura and submission victory at 2:29 of the second round.

“I was just a little bit too patient for my own good,” Johnson said, criticizing himself. “But sometimes that's good. That way I don't risk getting knocked out.”

Johnson smothered Cariaso in the first round, easily scoring a takedown and working from top position. After transitioning from a number of advantageous positions, the fight returned to the feet. Johnson continued pressuring with various strikes, ending the round with a strong right hand and knee to the body.

The one-sided affair continued in the second round, as Johnson imposed his will on the feet before going to the ground. While there, Johnson again transitioned easily from guard to side control, this time securing Cariaso's arm and the submission win.

With the win on Saturday, Johnson remains unbeaten at flyweight and collects the fifth defense of his 125-pound UFC title.
