Give Tyler Ennis a Chance

Corey Abbott shares his opinions on some players who are being chosen too high and too low in early drafts

Toronto's Mike Santorelli has provided the Leafs with plenty of bang for the buck. He has 22 points in 32 games after signing a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Toronto this past summer. Santorelli jumped from a 7% ownership in Yahoo leagues when I talked about him a couple of weeks ago to being owned in 20% today.

And while you're at it, it's not too late to join a league and play Yahoo fantasy hockey!

This week will revisit a player who was featured a week ago, while suggesting some more goaltenders. Additionally, there is a major surprise for your consideration.

Tyler Ennis (BUF) - C, LW - Owned in 19% of Yahoo leagues

Buffalo's leading point getter, with 22 points in 33 games, has picked up the pace and it's helped the Sabres win seven of their past 11 matches. Ennis has registered two goals and seven assists during that span. He is pacing the club in power-play points (six) and shots (78). Shying away from Sabres is understandable in fantasy hockey because of their lackluster offense and defensive troubles, but if you go after any skater on the team then it should be Ennis. He should end up with 55-60 points this campaign if his current pace continues.

Calvin Pickard (COL) - G - Owned in 22% of Yahoo leagues

Pickard has been outstanding while filling in for injured number one goalie Semyon Varlamov. He has posted a 5-5-2 record to go with a .936 save percentage and a 2.16 goals-against average. There isn't a definitive timetable for Varlamov's return, but it could come as early as next week. When that happens it's expected that Pickard will go back to the minors, so he could be a short-term addition. He's still worth grabbing though, especially if you need a spot start for Sunday when Colorado plays against Detroit.

Mika Zibanejad (OTT) - C, RW - Owned in 19% of Yahoo leagues

Zibanejad was recommended last week and he jumped up from being owned in just 9% of Yahoo leagues. However, he is still widely available and his hot play has continued. The 21-year-old forward has six goals and five assists in his last 10 outings. His spike in offense and his growing shot total has made him a confident player. He should be able to crack 20 goals for the first time in his career and playing alongside Bobby Ryan will certainly help.

Mark Scheifele (WPG) - C- Owned in 11% of Yahoo leagues

After a very slow start to the season, Scheifele's offensive game is finally coming together. He has amassed three goals and four assists in his past four outings and he has 15 points in his last 21 games when he began the year with two points in his first 12 contests. Scheifele has been clicking with Michael Frolik and Mathieu Perreault.

Mike Fisher (NSH) - C - Owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues

Fisher missed the first 21 games of the year after he suffered a ruptured Achilles during off-season training. In nine appearances, he has notched two goals and five points to go with 21 hits and a 51.4% success rate on faceoffs. Both of his goals have come on the power play and he plays in all situations for the Predators. Fisher has fit in nicely on the Predators' second line between Colin Wilson and Matt Cullen.

Petr Mrazek (DET) - G - Owned in 7% of Yahoo leagues

Jimmy Howard suffered a lower-body injury in Friday's 2-1 loss to New Jersey. Mrazek turned aside 22 of 23 shots in relief, but ended up with the defeat. His record stands at 3-2-0 on the year to go with a .922 save percentage and a 2.54 goals-against average. Mrazek will get the nod for Sunday's game versus Colorado and he'll be the Wings' starter until Howard returns from what is believed to be a minor injury.

Scott Gomez (NJD) - C - Owned in 2% of Yahoo leagues

Here is your shocker. Gomez has produced two goals and seven points in 11 games with the Devils. He has been skating on New Jersey's top line with Jaromir Jagr and Adam Henrique. Gomez is averaging 19:10 of ice time per game, which is the most he's seen since 2009-10 when he played 19:56 per match for the Montreal Canadiens. Playing with New Jersey's top-two scorers gives Gomez some fantasy value and he hasn't had any for a long time.

Devan Dubnyk (ARI) - G - Owned in 12% of Yahoo leagues

Frustrated fantasy owners of Mike Smith may want to pick up Dubnyk for the time being. The backup goaltender has started Arizona's last three games and he's posted a 1-1-1 record. He allowed four goals on 35 shots in a 4-2 loss to Los Angeles on Saturday, but he'll probably see some more action next week. The Coyotes play three times, including a back-to-back situation on Monday (Vancouver) and Tuesday (Edmonton). Dubnyk may get the nod versus his former Oilers teammates. He owns a 6-3-2 record on the year to go with a .919 save percentage and a 2.68 goals-against average.
