Tyler Boyd is expected to have a big part of the offense

The Bengals took Tyler Boyd with their second round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. A much needed position since they lost both Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency this year.

Boyd will be expected to play a major part this season, and for a rookie, that can be a lot to take in. But he has a lot of people rooting for him.

Andy Dalton had this to say about his new weapon.

For him, as long as he’s got a good feel for what we’re doing, a feel for when to make certain breaks and do different things, I think we’ll be fine in that regard. He’s just got to come in try to pick up things as quick as possible.”

Boyd will be expected to to fill in the slot, and the 6’1″ 197 pound wideout will be help draw attention away from both Tyler Eifert and A.J. Green. Remember, Boyd set school records at Pittsburgh for receptions (254) and receiving yards (3,361) in just three years.

Andy Dalton is not the only one who was high on Boyd as well. Just listen as to what his new receiver coach James Urban had to say about the rookie.

There are too many bodies in there, too much stuff, too many big fellas, too many tight releases, tight throws. But if you have good feel in there you can be productive. I’m encouraged in as much as having high expectations for his football intelligence.
