A's swap De Los Santos for Brewers' Kattaras
The Oakland Athletics, who are in the hunt for a wild-card playoffs spot, added catcher George Kottaras in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Fautino De Los Santos on Sunday.
Kottaras, who was designated for assignment Thursday, was hitting .209 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 58 games. He has played in parts of five seasons with Boston and Milwaukee.
De Los Santos has been pitching for Class AAA Sacramento since April 26. He had a 3.00 ERA in three innings of major league relief this season. He was 1-3 with a 7.25 ERA in 28 appearances for Sacramento with 43 strikeouts.
The A's have not announced a corresponding major-league roster move.
