Steelers sign LB Johnson, LS Katula

Linebacker Brandon Johnson and long snapper Matt Katula signed with the Steelers, who placed wide receiver Connor Dixon on their Waived/Injured List and also released tight end Wes Lyons.

Johnson, a backup linebacker in Cincinnati the past four years, is a noted special teams player. A fifth-round pick in 2006 by Arizona, he had a career-high 83 tackles in 2008.

Katula is a seven-year veteran who has spent time with Baltimore, New England and Minnesota. He has appeared in 93 career games, but only 13 over the past two seasons.
