Sources: Rodney Hood expected to miss several games for Jazz

Utah Jazz guard Rodney Hood is expected to miss several games with inflammation in his left heel, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

After season-ending shoulder surgery for Alec Burks earlier in the week, Hood had moved into the Jazz starting lineup. He's expected to minimally miss a week, sources said.

Hood sat out the Jazz's game on Friday night against the Atlanta Hawks.

The loss of Hood could clear the way for Jazz rookie Dante Exum, the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, to play an increased role in the backcourt alongside starting point guard Trey Burke. Utah started Patrick Christopher against the Hawks.

Hood has averaged 5.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists for the Jazz.

Hood, 22, left Duke after his sophomore season for the NBA draft. He also played one season at Mississippi State.
