Source: LSU fullback J.C. Copeland to work out for Lions, Falcons, Buccaneers, met with Cowboys, Patriots

LSU fullback J.C. Copeland has a private workout today for the Detroit Lions and a private workout for the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in Baton Rouge, according to a league source.

Copeland is scheduled to work out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April 25.

And Copeland met with the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys this week.

A punishing lead blocker at 6-foot-1, 270 pounds, Copeland scored two touchdowns in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl all-star game and was named Most Valuable Player.

At the NFL scouting combine, Copeland ran the 40-yard dash in 4.95 seconds, bench pressed 225 pounds 23 times and had a 9-3 broad jump.

He came to LSU as a defensive tackle before converting to fullback.

Copeland started 22 of 42 games played and rushed for 92 career yards and seven touchdowns with seven receptions for 85 yards.

Last season, he rushed for a season-high 20 yards on five carries against Florida. He finished the season with three touchdowns as he played in 11 games with six starts.

As a junior, he started 12 of 13 games and finished third on the team with four touchdown runs.

As a senior in high school, Copeland was a SuperPrep All-American who had 27 sacks his final season. He had 12 sacks as a junior.
