Snell gauging NBA interest minus agent

New Mexico forward Tony Snell is keeping his options open, but plans to gauge interest from the NBA.

"Tony (Snell) has decided to test the interest level of the NBA. We are helping him to gather that information. He has until April 16 to make his decision," coach Steve Alford said in a press release.

According to school spokesman Frank Mercogliano, Snell hasn't hired an agent, protecting his eligibility should he decide to return to New Mexico.

Snell, a 6-7, 200-pound junior, led the Lobos to a 13-3 Mountain West Conference record and No. 3 seed in the West Region in the NCAA Tournament. New Mexico lost its opening game to 14th-seeded Harvard.

He averaged 12.5 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in 2012-13.
