Savannah State 78, Morgan State 70 (2 OT)

Senior guard Preston Blackman scored a career-high 41 points, leading Savannah State to a 78-70 double-overtime victory over Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Monday at Hill Field House.

Blackman, who came into the game averaging 10.3 points, made 14 of 26 field-goal attempts and 8 of 15 from 3-point range for the Tigers (8-9, 2-1 MEAC). Junior swingman Justin Black and senior forward Dewayne Jackson scored 18 points apiece for the Bears (4-9, 1-1).

The two teams traded leads on big baskets throughout the second half, including a layup by Jackson and a dunk by Savannah State's Rashad Hassan. Arnold Louis scored with 1:20 to go put Savannah State up 56-54, but Ian Chiles tied the game on a layup with one second left in regulation.

The Bears appeared to have control with a five-point lead in overtime, but Blackman made two 3-pointers in 11 seconds, tying the game at 67-67 to force a second overtime. The Tigers dominated the second extra session, scoring the first eight points to take a commanding 74-67 lead.
