Saito signs with team in Japan

Pitcher Takashi Saito, who spent the past seven seasons in the Major Leagues, has signed a one-year contract to play in Japan for the Rakuten Golden Eagles, according to multiple media outlets.

Rakuten has also recently signed former Major Leaguers Andruw Jones and Casey McGehee.

Saito, who turns 43 in February, spent most of his career playing in Japan before signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2006.

He has been hurt much of the past two seasons, but he was 4-2 with a 2.03 for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2011 before dropping off to a 6.75 ERA with an 0-0 record in 16 appearances for the Arizona Diamondbacks this past season.
