Rockies' GM expects Tulo to miss eight weeks

Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is expected to miss the next two months, according to a Denver Post report.

The team's star is scheduled to have surgery Thursday on his left groin area, likely will miss eight weeks, Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd told the paper.

O'Dowd's comments followed an MRI which revealed scar tissue irritating a nerve in Tulowitzki's groin.

"That's a blessing knowing what it is, but the downside of that is more than likely he's lost for eight weeks," O'Dowd told the paper. "That's what we are planning on and will adjust off that."

Tulowitzki was hurt May 30 against Houston, when he pulled up after running out an infield grounder. He later took himself out of a Triple-A rehab game on June 13.

He was batting .287 with eight homers and 27 RBIs. The Rockies have lost 12 of their last 13 games with him out of the lineup.
