Rockets lose Delfino to broken foot

Houston Rockets forward Carlos Delfino will miss the remainder of the playoffs with a fractured right foot, the team announced Friday.

The injury, which was discovered during a CT scan, will require offseason surgery.

"Carlos has played a large role in our success so far this season and we are disappointed for him that he will not be able to finish out this playoff run," Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. "Carlos would love nothing more than to be out there with his teammates as they prepare for Game 6, but this is the type of injury that requires a surgical repair. We expect he will be fully recovered in time for the start of next season."

Delfino exited midway through the second quarter of the Rockets' Game 5 victory on Wednesday night at Oklahoma City with soreness in the foot.

In 67 regular-season games, Delfino averaged 10.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists. In the first-round playoff series against the Thunder, he was averaging 9.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

The Rockets trailed 3-2 in the series entering Game 6 on Friday night in Houston.
