UFC 161 Fighter Bonuses: James Krause Doubles Up on Post-Fight Awards

James Krause and Toby Imada rematched in the main event of Friday night’s Resurrection Fighting Alliance 6 at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo., but the fight couldn’t have been more different than their first go around under the Bellator banner.

Imada defeated Krause by submission in that fight, now three years removed.

Krause told MMAWeekly.com before the fight that he was a completely different fighter now, however, and it showed.

Imada came at him straight from the opening bell, scoring early with a right hand, but mounted little offense after their opening skirmish.

Krause took over the fight, primarily using his punch combinations to pepper Imada, scoring, but mounting no serious damage for the better part of the fight.

It was enough, however, for Krause to take every round on all three of the judges’ scorecards.

The victory now puts Krause’s winning streak at seven straight, including five in a row under the Resurrection banner.

After a rough patch over the past couple of years that saw him win just one of four fights, UFC veteran Brock Larson on Friday night finally got some momentum going by winning his second consecutive fight.

“I don’t know if I’m better anywhere or not, but my opinion is that I think that either way the fight goes, I’ll be a bit more dominant,” Larons told MMAWeekly.com prior to the fight.

“My wrestling ability allows me to still come forward and deal with takedowns very well, where if he comes forward too hard, he’ll give up a takedown. That’s our big difference is in wrestling ability; I’ll have the ability to dictate where it goes.”

Larson’s words could hardly have been more accurate as he took Eduardo Pamplona down, per his stand operating procedure, and ground and pounded him for the majority of the first two rounds.

Pamplona turned the tables in the final round, taking Larson down and returning the favor. Pamplona captured the final round, but it was too little, too late to overcome Larson’s dominance in the opening two stanzas.

Larson walked away with a unanimous decision victory.
