Reports: Heat work out Nazr Mohammed, shake up coaching staff

The Miami Heat met with Nazr Mohammed last Thursday and worked him out, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson, who added that the team is "most intrigued" by Emeka Okafor and "has inquired about" Andray Blatche. It's clear that the Heat want to add some size to their bench.

Mohammed, who turns 37 this week, suited up in 80 games for the injury-plagued Chicago Bulls last season, but he only averaged seven minutes per contest. He's well past the point of being a difference-maker, but he is still 6-foot-10 and would fit in that veteran locker room. The other two players mentioned would be more productive, however, assuming that Okafor is healthy.

The Heat are also making changes to their coaching staff. Longtime assistants Ron Rothstein and Bob McAdoo will be re-assigned in the organization, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, and Juwan Howard will be promoted from his player development role to a spot on the bench. Miami has discussed hiring an ex-NBA head coach as an assistant, as well, according to Yahoo Sports.
