Report: UM recruit Hatch granted fifth year of HS

Austin Hatch, a Michigan recruit who twice survived a plane crash, is reclassifying to the Class of 2014, according to a WANE-TV report.

Hatch, who committed to the Wolverines in 2011 for the Class of '13, was in a plane crash during that summer in which his father and stepmother were killed. He was injured in the crash, and was forced to miss the 2011-12 season for the Canterbury School in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Hatch told WANE-TV that he received an allowance for an extra year of eligibility after his school petitioned the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
