Report: Texans schedule workout for WR Roy Williams

Former Texas wide receiver Roy Williams, a nine-year veteran and former first-round pick who played for the Bears, Cowboys and Lions, is scheduled to work out for the Houston Texans this week.

According to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, Williams is likely to work out Thursday.

The Texans lack proven depth opposite veteran Andre Johnson. Kevin Walter is the only other player on the roster who has an NFL reception.

The Texans drafted wide receivers in the third and fourth rounds of the 2012 draft, but third-rounder DeVier Posey has looked like more of a developmental prospect to date. Keshawn Martin picked up the playbook quickly, but he's also not likely ready for a major role on a playoff contender's roster.

Williams, 30, started nine games for the Bears last season. He has 37 catches in each of the past two seasons.
