Report: Sloan withdraws his name for Bobcats' coaching vacancy

Former Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan has withdrawn his name from consideration for the head coaching vacancy with the Charlotte Bobcats, Sports Illustrated reported Thursday.

The other two candidates for the job reportedly are Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw and Los Angeles Lakers assistant Quin Snyder.

Shaw is also a candidate for the Orlando Magic head coaching position.

"I took myself out today," Sloan, 70, told Sports Illustrated. "I don't want to comment on it because it's never profitable for anybody. It just makes it sound like you're making a statement about someone. But they were wonderful and there were no problems. I just took myself out."
