Report: Ravens' Suggs looks to play Sunday

The return of Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs to practice Wednesday spurred talk that he's aiming to play in Sunday's game in Houston.

Suggs, who suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in April, wasn't expected to be ready until November, but ESPN.com reported that Suggs wants to be on the field against the Texans.

Sources told ESPN.com that Suggs' family and friends have made travel arrangements to Houston in anticipation of him playing.

The 2011 NFL defensive player of the year remains on the reserve/non-football injury list and coach John Harbaugh has cautioned about expecting too much too soon. At Wednesday's practice, Suggs appeared to have gained some weight.

"To what extent, to what he is able to do, we should just temper our expectations a little bit," Harbaugh said. "He's coming off a very serious injury, an Achilles tear. We'll just see how he does, but he will start (practicing Wednesday). This is the first time he is allowed to do it.

"He's worked really hard. He's done a great job with the rehab. He's followed the protocol. He had no setbacks throughout the course of the whole deal, so that's a credit to him and a credit to the doctors and to our trainers."

Harbaugh wouldn't speculate on when he thinks Suggs might be ready for game action, but the team had indicated that November would be a likely target date.

"I don't have a timetable on that," Harbaugh said. "It's going to really be day to day, it really is."

In nine NFL seasons, Suggs had missed only three games because of injury.
