Report: Panthers receiving calls about RB Williams

The Carolina Panthers have received trade inquiries about running back DeAngelo Williams, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Panthers are "willing to listen," per the report, with Tuesday's trade dealine approaching. Wililams signed a five-year, $43 million deal in 2011.

Carolina's sputtering ground game has been the topic of much debade, and Jonathan Stewart was named the starter for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears after Williams started five of the Panthers' first six games this season.

Williams entered Sunday leading the Panthers with 177 rushing yards this season, but is averaging just 3.5 yards per carry. Stewart has 142 yards on 4.1 yards per carry, with 15 fewer carries than Williams' team-high 50.
