Report: Mavs' Marion won't report if traded to bad team

Dallas Mavericks forward Shawn Marion said on Friday that if the Mavs trade him to a bad team, he won't report to that team, ESPNDallas.com reported.

"If I'm going to get traded, they're going to tell me what's going on and where I'm going," Marion told ESPNDallas.com. "Because if I'm going to a (expletive) situation, I'm not going. It's just that simple.

"At this time, I'm too old to be trying to go through and be a, you know what I'm saying, not have a chance to do anything. I'm at a point where I want to be playing for something right now."

Quite simply, Marion said he would only report to a team that has a chance to contend for a title.

"Other than that, it ain't happening," he said.

Would Marion retire rather than go to a non-contending team?

"Maybe," he said, laughing. "Anything is possible."

Marion, 34, is due $9.3 million next season, which is the final year of his contract.

He is averaging 11.2 points and 8.3 rebounds this season.
