Report: Jets OC prefers Geno Smith

One key member of the New York Jets coaching staff wants to make a change at the starting quarterback spot.

According to a report from the NFL Network, offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg prefers rookie quarterback Geno Smith over veteran Mark Sanchez. One school of thought could be that if a team has two bad quarterbacks, it might be better to let the young one learn on the fly and develop into something better.

After all, the Jets know what they're getting with Sanchez at this point.

However, Mornhinweg could think whatever he wants. The final decision will come down to head coach Rex Ryan, who has been in Sanchez's corner in the past.
