Report: Jackets shop G Bobrovsky
The 2013 Venzina Trophy winner could be on the market.
Goaltender Seigei Bobrovsky and the Columbus Blue Jackets are attempting to negotiate a contract extension and the two sides appear to be far apart, according to multiple reports. Far enough part, TSN reported Sunday, that the Blue Jackets are gauging the interest of other teams.
The 24-year-old Bobrovsky, who led the Blue Jackets to within one point of making the playoffs this past season, is asking for $6 million per year. The Jackets are reluctant to invest that much cap space in a goalie who before the sterling 2013 season had not shown that much in the NHL.
Complicating the negotiations is the KHL reportedly has a $10 million offer on the table to the Russian native. Bobrovsky has the option to sign a contract with the KHL as early as Monday.
Bobrovsky finished the season with a 21-11-6 record and a .932 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average. Two years ago with the Philadelphia Flyers, Bobrovsky had just a .899 save percentage and a 3.02 GAA.
