Report: Hart headed to Mariners

Free-agent first baseman/outfielder Corey Hart is set to sign a one-year deal with the Seattle Mariners, CBSSports.com reported Wednesday.

Hart sat out the 2013 season with an injury to his right knee. The year before, he batted .270 with 30 home runs and 83 RBIs.

The 31-year-old Hart was drafted in 2000 by current Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik, who formerly was the director of amateur scouting for the Brewers.

Hart will join a Seattle lineup that includes newly acquired second baseman Robinson Cano.

In nine major-league seasons, all with the Brewers, Hart has a career batting average of .276 with 154 home runs and 508 RBIs.
