Report: Eagles ask Asomugha to take pay cut

The Philadelphia Eagles want cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to redo his contract or he could face the possibility of the team releasing him, ESPN reported Friday.

Basically, if Asomugha refuses to take a pay cut, the Eagles will cut him. He is due to be paid $15 million this season, with $4 million guaranteed whether or not he's with the team. as part of a five-year, $60 million contract he signed in 2011.

The Eagles and Asomugha's representatives are scheduled to meet Friday in Indianapolis during the NFL Scouting Combine, according to ESPN.

Asomugha, 31, has been considered a disappointment with the Eagles after going to three Pro Bowls while playing for the Oakland Raiders from 2003 to 2010. He has four interceptions and 95 tackles in his two seasons with Philadelphia
